Hey everyone! It’s Netqueen and welcome back to my blog!
Are you too old for kids’ books like Geronimo Stilton but
still too young for teenage romances? You’re probably a preteen (a kid between the
ages of 10 and 12). Are you looking for something new, besides Harry Potter and
Lemony Snickett?
Here are some interesting reads that I personally recommend
you try.
1. Jacqueline Wilson is one of my favourite
authors. She writes books for a variety of age groups – books like Katy and the Hetty Feather series for preteens, and books for kids as well. Katy is about a girl who breaks her legs
and has to get around in a wheelchair. I thought it was a very heartfelt and
moving book. It’s actually my favourite Jacqueline Wilson book!
2. Jen Malone is another great author, who has
written books like At your Service
and The Sleepover. Her books are
mostly realistic fiction, about different kids and their talents. The book You’re Invited, for instance, is about four
girls who start a party planning business. It’s full of humour, action and fun,
like most of her other books.
3. The Scarlet
and Ivy series, written by Sophie Cleverly, is full of mystery and horror.
The story is about two girls (twins) and their mysterious school, Rookwood
Academy. With evil teachers and missing students, this series is great for a
spooky read!
4. The series Everyday
Angel by Victoria Schwab is about a guardian angel who has to help three
different girls with very different problems so she can earn her angel wings. But
as Aria the angel starts to help people, she isn’t sure whether she really
wants to leave them once her task is done.
5. Finally, The
Lemonade War series by Jacqueline Davies is funny, interesting and unique. It
has stories about lemonade-making contests, fourth-grade court trials and kid
detectives Jessie and Maxwell. The series is so interesting that you can’t put
the books down!
